The Thai Commerce Minister, P Naran, and the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Han Jang, met to discuss these issues. They emphasized collaboration in human resource development, particularly in technology, as part of Thailand’s “soft power” initiative. The Minister expressed concern about the quality of Chinese products sold online, particularly on platforms like Teu, and urged adherence to Thai quality standards. He assured that Thailand’s stance towards China remains positive despite negative media portrayals.
Ambassador Han acknowledged Thailand’s balanced approach and assured that China will ensure its goods comply with Thai inspection requirements. He also announced that Teu is planning to establish an office in Thailand to meet local regulations.
The meeting also highlighted China’s ongoing trade promotion activities. The recent International Live Commerce Expo in Thailand showcased Chinese influencers promoting Thai products through live streaming, generating 320 million baht in sales in a single day. Total sales are expected to surpass 1 billion baht by the event’s conclusion this Sunday.
